The Hunt

Chosen by MAXIM Magazine as one of “America’s Best Hunting Lodges,” October 2014

Singletree Gun & Plough is not a typical Hunting Lodge, nor do we book the typical hunt. Located in the “buckle of the trophy belt,” the terrain of Stokes County doesn’t lend itself to anything typical. Far from the soft, rolling hills or flatlands where many of the Hunt clubs are located, our land is full of deep hollows and soaring hills, rocky bluffs and high ridges, streams and cliffs. As well we have over five miles of Riverfront and share borders with seven thousand acre Hanging Rock State Park.

Our deer plots and fields of native grasses and wildflowers are 100% organic seed and farmed following sustainable practices, using no fertilizer or pesticides. The fruit trees we plant are organic, and the nut and persimmon trees are transplanted on site.

We only have limited engagements for hunting each year as we are committed to our Wilderness Preserve foremost, and follow closely the health and well-being of our land. We acknowledge the hunter’s role in helping us maintain the ecological equilibrium of our forest, thus treat our hunting clientele with respect and gratitude for the service they provide.

We utilize the expertise of our local hunters with generations of hunting the magnificent deer and turkey of Stokes County in their background, thus we have the best guides in the business.
